Student Participation Reporting
Accessing Student Activity Reports to Identify Last Online Course Activity (LDA)
Instructors can use the reporting tools within the LMS to review student activity and determine the last time a student completed online coursework. This report is helpful for monitoring student engagement, identifying students who may need additional outreach, and supporting student success.
Accessing the Student Activity Report
Follow these steps to view a student’s most recent online activity:
- Log in to Populi.
- Select the ACADEMIC tab.
- Select the REPORTING tab.
- Select the ATTENDANCE tab.
- You will need to change the default settings of student and term to the ONLINE COURSE PARTICIPATION option.
To filter the student you wish to look up:
- Select STUDENT from the drop-down menu
- In the new text box that appears, enter the student name you wish to look up (As you type, the names begin to autopopulate, so be sure to select the correct student)
- Select the ADD button
- Select the APPLY FILTER button
The system will populate the most recent to the oldest information. Review what was completed/accessed under the PARTICIPATION column.
When reviewing the report, focus on the most recent completed online work rather than only the last time a student logged in. A student may log in without completing coursework, so the completed activity information provides a more accurate picture of engagement that will count toward their attendance.
Examples of activity may include:
- Lesson
- Test
- Assignment submission
- Discussion Post
If a student has not completed recent online work:
- Review the activity report within the course to confirm the last completed item
- Check upcoming deadlines and course expectations
- Perform student outreach using the established student communication process (text/email) through Populi
- Document outreach and follow-up on the cohort's weekly Student Progress Tracker
