Weekly Seminar 101

Weekly Seminar 101

Attendance

You are expected to be present and on time for all synchronous seminars. You must notify your instructor if you will be late or absent from a synchronous seminar. Failure to notify your instructor before the seminar, outside of extenuating circumstances as deemed by the instructor, will result in an unexcused absence. Students will be considered absent when they do not attend the seminar at all and do not obtain prior approval from the instructor, as well as if they log in to the seminar ten or more minutes after start or leave the seminar ten or more minutes before the scheduled end of the seminar without prior approval of the instructor. Should you not be able to attend a synchronous seminar, you are expected to watch the seminar recording to complete the post-seminar assessment or participate in the post-seminar discussion. Not completing the post-seminar assessment or participating in the discussion will have an adverse effect  on your grade. Failing grades in seminar could subsequently result in you not meeting the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policy, which is grounds for dismissal from the program.

Pre- and Post-Seminar Work

Pre-Seminar

To help prepare for each seminar session, you are encouraged to download, print and review the seminar handouts before each session and complete all pre-seminar assignments. The handouts and pre-work are designed to help you prepare for the session and contribute to the discussion.
The handouts can be used during the session to take notes, record observations, and thoughts, and write questions to ask either during the seminar session or at your externship experience after the session.
Each session will have a set of handouts to download, but not all sessions will have pre-seminar work.

Post-Seminar

You are responsible for accessing and completing the post-seminar work after each week's seminar. Post-seminar work includes quizzes and class discussions that can be accessed from both within each seminar weekly lesson and the Assignments tab. These assignments add value to your learning and factor into your overall course grade. Pay close attention to the due dates for each assignment.
