Set Google Chrome as Your Default Browser on a Mac

Overview

By default, Macs use Safari as the system browser. If you prefer using Google Chrome, you can change your Mac’s settings so all web links automatically open in Chrome instead.

This guide walks you through the steps to set Chrome as your default browser.

Method 1: System Settings

Step 1: Open System Settings

  1. Click the Apple menu () in the top-left corner of your screen.
  2. Select System Settings.
