How can I see what is due each week and whether I have completed everything?

As a NIMAA student, at any given time, you might have coursework in some 4-8 courses. Typically, assignments are due the Tuesday AM after they are assigned at 8am EST. For example, an assignment that opened on Monday, September 11, 2023, will typically be due on Tuesday, September 18, 2023 at 8am EST. It is your job as a student to track all assignments due each week. Populi offers you several ways of tracking that information.

Viewing Assignments in the Calendar

Firstly, you have two calendars in Populi that you can check for assignment due dates: the site calendar and a course calendar.
  1. The site calendar is accessed by clicking Calendar in the black bar at the top of any page. The site calendar displays all due dates and events across all courses in which you are enrolled.

  2. A course calendar is accessed by clicking Calendar in the left nav of the course page. The course calendar displays due dates and events specific to the course from which it was accessed.
After accessing the calendar from either the site menu bar or within a course, you will see all assignments due that week, as well as any events.
  1. To see the full list due on a given day (since typically not all can display in the calendar day square), click the # more... link (e.g. 8 more... in the example below).

The day expands to show all assignments due that day.

  2. To view information regarding a specific assignment, click on the assignment from the day square. The View Event dialog displays.

  3. Click on the More button to see additional info and to link to the course. A full page displays showing more info about the assignment, including the course it is in, the start date and end date.
  4. Click on the course name to see the assignment in the course. After accessing the course, in the Schedule panel, you will see upcoming assignment due in that course by day. You can also see assignment due dates (and status) from the Assignments page (see below).

Checking the Status of Assignments

The easiest way to check whether you have completed all assignments due for a week in a particular course is to go to the course page for each course with deadlines that week. We strongly recommend that when accessing a course from the My Courses page, you right-click on each course name and then select to open each course in a new tab. This way, you can keep open all courses for which you have assignments that week at once.
  1. From the course page, click on Assignments in the left nav. The Assignments page shows all assignments in that course, with the start/end dates, due date, potential grade and YOUR grade.

  2. If you have a grade in an assignment (ini the Grade/Percent column), you have submitted it.
  3. If you do not have a grade in an assignment, you either did not yet submit it or the assignment requires manual grading, such as a File type assignment or test containing an essay question. Grading in these assignments can be delayed.
To see whether you submitted the assignment, simply click on the assignment name (which is a hyperlink).
    1. For a file type assignment, you will see your submissions under the Submissions header.
    2. For a test with an essay question in it, you will see the grade for all other questions that were automatically graded.
