Before you can begin your externship hours, you must complete CPR training and upload your certificate. This is a required step for all students and must be completed on time to start externship in week 3.
To start externship, you must:
Complete a 2-hour CPR course titled BLS Healthcare Providers Certification Class.
Upload your certificate or wallet card to the CORE Skills (CS) course.
⚠️ You cannot begin externship hours without proof of CPR completion.
Due: Friday of Week 2 (Intro to Clinic Week)
Failure to upload your certificate by the deadline will delay the start of your externship.
Upload your CPR certificate in:
CORE Skills (CS) Course → Week 1 Lesson
Access your Core Skills course
Navigate to the CPR page of the Week 1 Lesson: Introduction to Medical Assisting.
Select the BLS Healthcare Providers Certification Class link.
The cost of this course is included in your program tuition. Do not send payment for this required CPR course.
Any optional or extra courses offered by the provider will not be covered and are your responsibility.
Finish the full CPR/BLS training (approximately 2 hours).
Be sure your name appears correctly on the certificate.
Download or screenshot your certificate or wallet card.
Upload it to the CORE Skills (CS) Course → Week 1 Lesson.
Confirm the upload is successful before the deadline.
CPR certification is mandatory before externship hours can begin.
Late or missing uploads will prevent you from starting the externship.
Uploading your certificate is your responsibility.
If you experience issues accessing the course, completing CPR, or uploading your certificate, contact your instructor immediately for assistance.
