Purpose

The Applied Medical Assistant (AMA) Week Makeup Policy provides eligible students with an opportunity to complete remediation work when they have completed all End-of-Block Assessments but are still not passing the course.

This process is designed to support student learning while maintaining academic standards and course expectations.

Eligibility Requirements

Students may qualify for AMA Week makeup work if:

  • All End-of-Block Assessments have been completed
  • The student is still failing the course after completing the required assessments
  • The student submits the required remediation request form

Completion of makeup work does not guarantee a passing course grade.

Student Responsibilities

Students participating in the AMA Week makeup process are responsible for:

  • Submitting the required remediation form
  • Meeting with the instructor to review expectations and deadlines
  • Completing all assigned remediation work within the approved timeframe
  • Monitoring email and course announcements for instructor communication
  • Asking questions early for clarification or seeking support if needed

Makeup Work Timeline

Students will have two weeks to complete all assigned makeup work.

Students are encouraged to complete remediation during scheduled pause weeks whenever possible.

Late submissions may not be accepted unless approved by the instructor.

Grading Information

Students completing AMA Week makeup work:

  • Will not receive points for the presentation component
  • Will receive a maximum possible score of 80%
  • Must complete all assigned remediation activities to be considered for grade adjustment

AMA Week Makeup Process

Step 1: Submit the Remediation Request

Complete and submit the required course remediation form for the appropriate block.

Step 2: Meet With Your Instructor

Your instructor will:

  • Review the makeup process
  • Explain expectations
  • Provide assignment instructions
  • Discuss deadlines and required completion dates

You will also receive a follow-up email outlining all requirements and deadlines.

Step 3: Complete Assigned Makeup Work

Depending on your course completion status, makeup work may include:

  • Completing missing End-of-Block Assessments (if not previously completed)
  • Watching assigned case study videos
  • Completing discussion posts related to your assigned group case
  • Responding to questions assigned by the instructor
  • Answering all case study questions in the required document

Step 4: Instructor Review and Final Outcome

After the submission deadline:

  • The instructor will review and grade completed work
  • Course grades will be updated if requirements are successfully met
  • Students will receive an email with the final results and next steps
